Matt Baldoni
"TruckHouse Troubadour"
Matt “Truck House Troubadour” Baldoni – born and raised in a close‑knit Italian‑American Catholic family in the Sierra foothills, now calling Las Vegas home. I’m a singer‑guitarist who lives and breathes pure, acoustic storytelling – voice and guitar only, no backing tracks or loops. These days I’m on the road in my “truck house,” cruising the country’s highways in the Ford pickup I’ve loved since I was a kid, with a fully‑equipped truck camper serving as my mobile studio and stage.
My musical journey unfolded like a road trip rather than a linear timeline. A choir boy who first grabbed a guitar at eight, I later earned a classical‑guitar degree from Cal State Chico and snagged the Louis Armstrong National Jazz Award as a senior in high school. From there I leapt onto some of the world’s biggest stages – Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Madison Square Garden, and Red Rocks – sharing the bill with legends like Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Melissa Manchester, Taylor Dayne, The Platters, The Drifters, and The Coasters. I also led the house band for Fox Sports’ “The NFL Show,” starred in Las Vegas productions (Spamalot, Mamma Mia!, Cirque Du Soleil’s Ka, Legends in Concert, Il Divo, Hats! The Musical, Zowie Bowie) and performed as a strolling classical musician for the Venetian Streetmosphere program. Teaching at GIT in Hollywood let me pass on that blend of classical rigor and road‑warrior grit to the next generation.
What truly sets me apart is the uncompromising live‑only ethic: every song is delivered with just my voice and acoustic guitar, no power outlet, no looping, no digital crutches. I’m especially frustrated by musicians who can’t play without a screen or a backing track – the music loses its immediacy and honesty. Audiences get a front‑row seat to the raw craft of a seasoned performer who can swing from jazz standards to pop anthems, all while the sunset rolls over the horizon outside the truck’s windshield. This authenticity has landed me spots on marquee tours, TV, and high‑profile venues, yet I still thrive on the intimacy of a backyard or a coffee‑house stage.
What’s next? I’m currently mapping a summer circuit of outdoor festivals and house‑concert series, and a new EP of original songs recorded live in‑the‑field is slated for release this fall.
